I re-read it on the 4th of July, and found a few passages particularly relevant for today's world: "...He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance; "...For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent; and the gem that reminds of a new movement: "...He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation." Already we hear talk of a new world currency, and that the US should submit to international law if we want to be "respected in the world." But why worry? The founders were talking about King George, of course. Thank you, we should take the time to read this document more often.
